buildwithheta

I'm Heta Jogidasani, a DevOps and cloud engineer in Riga who likes building useful things.

For 8+ years I've worked in software, the last several in DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure and GCP. This is my portfolio, lab and journal.

The work

Platforms I've built, experiments I've run, tech I've tried and people I've taught. Each one has the full story behind it.

    Enterprise platform

Built a private Kubernetes platform with separate Dev, Test and Prod environments, and managed the clusters and releases with Helm.

    Kubernetes, Helm, Docker
  2. DevOps tooling as code

    Enterprise platform

Ran Jenkins and Nexus in Docker containers deployed with Terraform, built and fixed Java CI/CD pipelines, and managed configuration with Ansible and Chef.

Terraform, Jenkins, Nexus, Ansible, Chef, GitLab, Bitbucket
  3. Google Cloud proofs of concept

    Freelance, 2023

Delivered working proofs of concept for clients on Google Cloud, from Kubernetes workloads to databases and GitOps deployments.

GKE, Compute Engine, AlloyDB, VPC, Argo CD
  4. Seeing what apps are doing

    Monitoring

Wrote Splunk queries and dashboards that tracked application performance and capacity, with Sensu for monitoring.

    Splunk, Sensu, PostgreSQL

    Hackathon, 2020

Our team placed second in a worldwide hackathon on sustainability.

    Research project

Worked as a backend engineer on a university research project, writing algorithms in Python.

    Python, algorithms, Scrum
  7. Bootcamps and mentoring

    Ongoing

Taught DevOps and AWS cloud at bootcamps, and mentored interns and junior engineers.

Certifications

Formal proof behind the hands-on work, across cloud, DevOps practice, software and leading people.

  • Amazon Web Services

    AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

Covers AWS's core services, security and shared responsibility, pricing and the Well-Architected principles. It backs up years of running workloads on EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Route 53 and CloudFormation.

  • DevOps Institute

    DevOps Foundation

Covers the principles behind DevOps: flow, fast feedback, continuous delivery, automation and the culture that makes teams work together. It's the thinking behind how I approach every pipeline.

  • Microsoft

Microsoft Technology Associate, 98-361 Software Development Fundamentals

Covers programming fundamentals, object-oriented design, web and desktop applications, and databases in .NET, the foundation I started from as a software engineer.

About me

I started as a software engineer in Vadodara, India, building web apps in .NET and automating business processes with RPA, then moved into business analysis. Since moving to Riga, I've specialised in DevOps: CI/CD, containers, infrastructure as code and the cloud.

I care about continuous improvement and about understanding what the people using a system actually need. Colleagues would call me can-do and extroverted. Outside work you'll find me on a tennis, badminton or squash court, or sketching, painting and taking photos.

  • Professional master's in information systems, ISMA University, Riga
  • MSc Software Technologies, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara
  • BSc Computer Science, Pune University

I speak English, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi.
